Ramadhan is around the corner!
for those who have no idea what is ramadhan, ramadhan is a fasting month for all muslim. In this month, all muslim need to be fasting from dawn until sunset, we are refrain from consuming food, drinking, smoking or even engaging in sexual relations. During this month, we take our ‘sahur’ (eating before sunrise) and can only eat during breaking fast time after sunset. The act of fasting is said to redirect the heart away from worldly activities, its purpose being to cleanse the soul by freeing it from harmful impurities. Ramadan also teaches Muslims how to better practice self-discipline, self-control, sacrifice, and empathy for those who are less fortunate; thus encouraging actions of generosity and compulsory charity (zakat). After Ramadhan ends, Hari Raya (EID) will be celebrated. We will decorate our house moderately, baking the cookies together (usually i’ll just buy it). But we used to baked our own cookies. Nowadays, due to time consuming and other factors, we normally just bought the cookies. These cookies will be served on our dining table for the guests and family members. On the first day or Hari Raya, for those who still have ancestor or grandparents they will visit them. We’ve lost our grandmother/father 10 years ago. So, we can only celebrate our eid with our parents at home on the first raya. Anyhow, this year will be my last year celebrating hari raya with my family. Next eid, i will celebrates my hari raya with my husband’s family. He didnt said that i need to do that, it just i wanted to do that. so, first eid as husband and wife will be celebrated in Melaka. The other year, its gonna be my turn. 🙂
So, to all muslim. Happy Ramadhan. Shopping moderately, do not buy anything that is not necessary ok!
